Ethical Cosmetics & Organic Cosmetics Seminar Feature

Against the backdrop of a growing number of consumers who prioritize environmental and social responsibility, the market landscape surrounding organic and ethical beauty continues to evolve. The two seminars featured here offer perspectives for exploring the organic and ethical beauty business—one examining organic cosmetics market trends centered on "naphtha-free" formulations, and the other approaching the topic from a retail and distribution standpoint focused on "bringing ethical concepts to the sales floor." We invite you to attend these sessions at the venue.

Moving Beyond Petroleum: Naphtha-Free Organic Cosmetics Are on the Rise!

Date & Time: October 1 (Thu) 15:00–15:40
Speaker:
Japan Organic Cosmetics Association, Representative
Yoko Mizukami

Seminar Overview
Since around 2010, organic cosmetics have emerged in the EU and the United States, continuing to experience rapid growth year after year. A major contributing factor has been the establishment of organic cosmetics certification bodies. By attaching third-party certification marks to organic cosmetics, the image of these products as trustworthy cosmetics has become firmly established among consumers.
At its core, organic cosmetics are founded on the principle of being petroleum-free (naphtha-free) and using natural ingredients, with consideration for both user health and global environmental preservation. In line with global trends, the number of organic cosmetics manufacturers and production companies in Japan is also increasing.
In recent years, the shortage of "naphtha" has become a serious issue in the cosmetics industry; however, companies that manufacture and sell organic cosmetics continue to enjoy a stable supply of raw materials. Today, organic cosmetics are attracting renewed attention as a sustainable, future-oriented business that overcomes various contemporary challenges.

It's Not the Product That's Not Selling — Bringing Ethical to the Sales Floor

Date & Time: October 2 (Fri) 14:00–14:40
Speakers:
Ethical Director / GENERATION TIME Co., Ltd., CEO
Mao Sakaguchi

Ethical Beauty EReA, Representative Director
Kimiyoshi Sato

Seminar Overview
The reason ethical cosmetics aren't selling isn't a product problem—it's a sales floor design problem. This seminar reveals specific strategies for retail companies to generate revenue with ethical cosmetics.
Consumers don't buy simply "because it's ethical." From the paradigm shift of making the sales floor ethical rather than just the products, to designing fixtures, customer flow, and dwell time, the three axes of brand selection, and minimum configurations starting with one shelf and three brands—this 40-minute session systematically covers know-how you can put into practice starting tomorrow.
Using the screening criteria of Premium Niche Boutiques (PNB) as a foundation, we will also introduce evaluation metrics that go beyond sales per tsubo. This is practical content that empowers buyers, merchandisers, and store operations managers to take the first step toward implementing PNB concepts in their own stores.
